The Departed

Boston in the present day: a merciless struggle between the police and the Irish underworld. To put an end to the reign of the all-powerful godfather Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson), the police infiltrate his gang with "a blue" from the slums, Billy Costigan (Leo DiCaprio). While Billy struggles to gain the trust of the aging thug, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) joins the police force in the Special Investigations Unit, tasked with eliminating Costello. But Colin operates as a "submarine" and informs Costello of the operations that are being planned against him. Risking being unmasked at any moment, Billy and Colin are forced to lead a double life that gradually makes them lose their bearings and their identity. Traps and counter-offensives follow one another, the tension rises, until the day each side realizes that it is harboring a mole. A race against time begins between the two men with a single objective: to discover the identity of the other, or else they will lose their skin.
